Cosmetic Tattoos

cosmetic tattoosWhen one first thinks of a tattoo they think of some design inked on a rough and tumble biker, and sailor. Well news flash bikers and sailors are no longer the only people getting inked these days, mother, aunts and even grannies are heading to tattoo parlors to get inked. However, some of them are opting for a little less traditional tattoo. Believe it or not you can actually get your “make up” permanently tattooed on you. No more worrying about your make up wearing off or worrying about applying it in the morning. Once you wake up you are literally ready to go. However, this tattoo process is a little different than the traditional tattoos.

Just like the traditional tattoos these make up tattoos are injected into the dermis, your second layer of skin. However,  the cosmetic tattoos use a subtle color palette that aims to naturally enhance assets. Unlike traditional tattoos a topical ointment is applied to your face to numb the area that is receiving the tattoo. The most common make up tattoos are as follows: the eyebrows, lip liner, eye liner and full on lipstick. It takes any where from 4 days to 2 weeks for the make up tattoo to heal. Once it is healed you may have to get a touch up in between four and eight weeks after initially getting the make up tattooed.  Everyone is different so keep this in mind you may even have to go for a third if you are not happy with the results. After that you should be good for a few years. Please note that your face will appear to be very red, swollen and not normal after getting this procedure done. So you may want to plan your schedule around that.

Cleanliness Is Not A Laughing Matter

When it comes to getting a tattoo, cleanliness is no laughing matter. Many may think it’s not that big of a deal to make sure the tattoo parlor or studio that you are using is following the proper health codes and using proper sterilizing equipment. This is no laughing matter. If a tattoo parlor or tattoo studio does not use to correct sterilizing equipment and does not follow the proper health codes you could very easily end up with HIV or hepatitis.

Well respected tattoo artists are urging people to be extra cautious when it comes to getting a tattoo. These extra precautions have been brought up because Zipp’s Tattoo parlour in Edmonton, was closed don due to unsanitary conditions. Also heath officials are encouraging anyone who got tattoo at this tattoo parlor to go out and get an HIV or hepatitis test immediately. Zipp’s Tattoo parlor was using unsterilized instruments, as well as not using enough  antiseptic and there was evidence of them giving tattoos to animals in the studio.

Tattoo artist urge tattoo seekers to evaluate the tattoo studio you are visiting and to ask questions about how they sterilize their equipment. Another no brainier is to make sure the tattoo artist is wearing some sort of disposable rubber glove. Another great tip to make sure they are using clean ink with you. Tattoo artist should pour a small amount of ink into a little cup to use for your tattoo session. Well respected tattoo artist also say to stay away from scratchers – people who give low-cost tattoos out of their homes. Not only can you not be certain about how clean their equipment is you may not be able to see how good of a job they do.

Tattoo parlor tosses personal info

COOKEVILLE — A stack of papers thrown away at a garbage dump caught the attention of a concerned citizen recently, and now the police know about it, too.

“It was a bunch of papers blowing all over the place at the dump site, and I picked up some to see what they were,” said a Cookeville man. “It was where a tattoo business had thrown away records of people they had done business with.”

The papers were copies of release forms the tattoo business had required its clients to sign, giving their names, addresses, ages, dates of birth, description and location of their tattoos, their signatures — and even photo copies of their driver’s licenses.

The man who found the discarded papers could hardly believe that anyone would be so careless as to just toss people’s personal identification information out at a dump to blow around the grounds.

He took the time and trouble to contact some of the people and was amazed to learn that one of those whose information was on the discarded papers is the wife of a police officer.

That fact, as well as the whole specter of potential identity theft cases, got the attention of the Cookeville Police Department, and officers went to the dump site and gathered up the papers.

After further investigation, Capt. Nathan Honeycutt determined that the tattoo parlor named on the papers is no longer in business. He said the case is still under investigation.

“Most of all, we want to make sure that all businesses and individuals who are custodians of other people’s personal information know that they could face great civil liability and could end up paying a lot of money in cases like this if it resulted in someone’s identity being stolen,” Honeycutt said.

Business or other records containing that type of information should be shredded before being discarded, he said.

He said detectives will consult with the district attorney’s office about possible law violations in the case.

Price ‘removes Andre tattoo from wrist’

Katie Price has reportedly removed a tattoo bearing her estranged husband Peter Andre’s name.

The model, who had Andre’s name inked on her wrist, has been photographed leaving a tattoo parlour in Ibiza with a bandage covering the area of the design.

According to the Daily Mail, witnesses believe that she could have had the moniker altered into a different pattern.

Price, 31, was seen getting the tattoo as a gift for Andre during an episode of their ITV2 reality show. The design also featured the name of their daughter Princess surrounded by hearts and a crown.

Andre also has a tattoo dedicated to his former partner in the form of her name inked on his ring finger.

The couple, who split in May, are currently on separate summer holidays. Yesterday, Price was seen shopping with friends on the holiday island, while Andre was photographed playing with Princess and son Junior, four, at his family’s home in Cyprus.

Whyte Avenue tattoo shop closed over health concerns

Alberta health is calling on anyone tattooed or pierced at a Whyte Avenue shop this year to get tested for disease.

Zipp’s Tattoo & Museum, 10028 82 Avenue, was ordered closed after Alberta Health Services became aware of their practices.

Among the infractions, according to the Closure Order:

-Instruments being used on clients were not in a clean or sterile condition

-There was inadequate antiseptic treatment of the skin prior to performing the procedure

-The operator indicated that he has been recently tattooing animals in the studio.

“The lack of standard sterilization practices of reusable instruments and safety precautions can cause a risk for disease transmission of hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV,” said a release. “Anyone who has had any body art or piercing done at Zipp’s Tattoo & Museum since January 2009 is asked to call 780-413-4977 for further advice.”

Residents with any health-related concerns can call Health Link Alberta to speak to a registered nurse 24 hours a day, seven days a week, at 780-408-LINK (5465) or outside the local calling area, toll free at 1-866-408-LINK (5465).

Jailhouse Tattoo Artist Starts Small Fire

A clever and creative inmate in Rhea County inks himself another felony charge. Ricky Parker, Junior caused a small fire inside the jail while making tattoos two Saturday’s ago.

Inmates and deputies tell us that jailhouse tattoos are common in jails and prisons, have been for generations. Inmates such as Parker find several ways to make the ink and create the heat.

But Parker’s side job inside the jail will cost him a felony charge of reckless endangerment. Deputies say two weekends ago, Parker took the cord of a television, plugged it into an outlet and then skinned the wires and touched them together to create heat and ink. The practice is known as “pop-lighting.”

Typically, tattoo artists burn styrofoam cups, upside down to capture the smoke to capture the smoke. That soot combined with toothpaste creates the ink for tattoos like the ones Steven Daniels has collected over the last ten years.

Daniels told us all of these came from five or six prisons Tennessee prisons he has been in. But Parker’s cup caught fire, smoked up a jail cell and set off a smoke detector. We asked Daniels if Parker’s artwork was worth the new felony charge.

Daniels said, “Wasn’t too smart, everybody makes mistakes in their own choice. I hate that he done it to himself. He knows the consequences.”

The inmates and Rhea County jail staffers tell us they walk through every ten minutes, but tattoo artists like Parker work quickly. Parker was in on drug charges, but has an extensive history. Because of that, jail officials say the reckless endangerment charge could come with a longer sentence range than the one to two years.

A&E Tattoo Highway star offers free tattoo; Twitter him

Twitter freaks and tattoo lovers, hear ye, A&E and Tattoo Highway are offering up free Twitter tatts, the catch is you have to Twitter your request direct to Thomas Pendelton, the host of the show.

Twitter freaks and tattoo lovers, hear ye, A&E and Tattoo Highway are offering up free Twitter tatts, the catch is you have to Twitter your request direct to Thomas Pendelton, the host of the show.

The Iranian uprising over the elections is being Twittered by irate citizens protesting the results, and John Mayer is Twittering his thoughts from the nearest bathroom. Yes, Twitter is not a passing fad. People are so enamored with the social networking site that they are clamoring to tattoo their twitter names on their bodies.

Maybe even Jesus_H_Christ will want his name tattooed on his neck.

Thomas Pendelton, tattoo artist and the star of A&E’s “Tattoo Highway” reality TV series (A&E, Wednesdays at 10PM), recently offered to tattoo a twitter user’s handle free of charge.

After extending the proposal to his Twitter followers, a tidal wave of tweets and emails from tattoo-crazy fans wanting to permanently brand themselves with their Twitter handle washed over him.

Pendelton will narrow the field of would-be twits for tat-tweeters by making them jump through a couple of hoops:

1. Follow @ThomasPendelton on Twitter (http://twitter.com/ThomasPendelton)
2. Tweet @ThomasPendelton with Hash Tag #A&EWed10 stating why (and where!) you want your Twitter handle permanently inked onto your body
3. Tweet about this, and have your friends chime in on your behalf using that #A&EWed10 hash tag. Feel free to share a photo along with your request.

Thomas will tweet about the lucky follower who will get inked before the next episode of Tattoo Highway airs this Wednesday on A&E at 10pm.
